Resume
I can do and have done just about anything you may need … but what I love to do is edit video and create motion graphics.
The Software I Know and Use:
- Avid Media Composer
- Adobe Premiere
- Apple Final Cut Pro X (FCPX)
- Adobe Creative Cloud – most of them, especially Photoshop, AfterEffects, Illustrator and Audition.
- Maxon Cinema4D
- Digidesign Pro Tools
- vMix (live production and streaming)
- WordPress
Now for the Hardware:
- Any professional camera from Panasonic, Sony, Ikegami, etc… Studio config or in the field, no problem.
- Lighting in the studio, in a car, in a kitchen, whatever, where-ever.
- Audio recording and mixing, from one person stand-ups to 48 track musical performances.
- Broadcast automation systems from Tightrope Media Systems and 360 Systems Broadcast
- Blackmagic Design hardware, capture cards, disk recorders, cameras, switchers.
- Windows PC configuration and troubleshooting expert, but I can use a Mac too
- Networking and studio infrastructure.
Education:
- Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville
- Graduated 2001 with B.A. in Mass Communications
- Minor in Fine Arts with concentration in Ceramics
- Belleville Area College (Now called Southwestern Illinois College)
- Graduated in 1996 with Associate of Science degree
- University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
On the Clock:
- I’ve edited projects that have been awarded an Emmy(2017 & 2018 Mid-America Emmys), a Telly(2006), and a Davey(2007).
- I work full time for the City of St. Louis’ Communications Division, a.k.a. STL TV as a video production specialist. My specialties are editing, motion graphics, audio mixing and broadcast operations. I’ve been there since 2003, and went full time in 2005. P.S., I’m also the guy everyone comes to when they can’t make something work 😉
- I’ve done freelance infographic animation work for Monsanto (now Bayer) (internal video) on a too-short deadline, and finished on time. I have it posted on this site and vimeo
- I have an IMDB credit… although I’ve never been on the set of a movie. I was the assistant Avid editor on Ghost Image, starring Elisabeth Röhm and Stacey Dash, directed by Jack Snyder. I built Jack’s Avid system and taught him how to use Avid, since he had previously been using Premiere. Once he had his first cut made, I facilitated the transfer of the project to editor Jonathon Braun and composer Jamie Christopherson for further work.
- From 2002-2005 I did a lot of stringer work for The Weather Channel; shooting local St. Louis weather conditions early in the morning and editing it down to just the best shots to compress and upload to their ftp server in Atlanta, Georgia. I say it was quite a feat, considering I was using a computer that isn’t even powerful enough to play YouTube videos now. That laptop and an XL-1 helped me gross over $40K in a 3 year period (a whole lot of 10 second clips). I still have most of the original tapes (about 60) but will probably never look at them again. I sold the XL-1 so I could buy a 60D
Off the Clock:
- I run a photo booth rental company Mid-America Photo Booth on the weekends
- It probably won’t surprise you, but I’m a huge nerd. Dr. Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, Red Dwarf, Anything by JJ Abrams or Joss Whedon and I’m gonna watch. The only thing better than Sci-Fi is comedy, and if you combine the two I’m yours.
